Ministry

Believing that God has made us each unique, with God given talents, gifts, skills, and abilities (1 Peter 4:10-
11) PPMCC’s accompanists seek to create an atmosphere for worship, bringing our own spirituality, talents,
and time together, to praise God.

It is the accompanists’ ministry to focus PPMCC’s attention on coming together as a corporate body, lifting
our hearts to God.   When we are all singing, praising, and worshiping together, the very presence of Spirit
and power of God become evident as we invite Spirit into our music, encouraging the congregation to enter
into God’s presence.

Process

As with any ministry, being an accompanist for PPMCC involves your talent and time, and God’s calling.

To be aware and comfortable with the mission statement and core values of PPMCC and flow of the
services, you need to be a regular attendee of PPMCC at least six months prior to participation as an
accompanist.

Audition and interview with the music director, (may also include worship leader and Pastor).

Continued attendance at PPMCC Sunday service is required to participate in the Sunday service.

Qualifications/Responsibilities

Musical ability to participate in a formal church service with congregational singing (song leader may
or may not be present)

Ability to read music/chords and follow music

Ability to work within a team environment, including following direction of leadership along with
flexibility and adaptability in scheduling

Willing/able to accompany at the 9:00 a.m. and 10:30 a.m. services

Member or friend of PPMCC in good standing

Commitment to overall ministry of PPMCC

Regular attendance at Sunday service

Accompanying includes playing for but is not limited to prelude, opening hymn, “liturgy music”,
offertory (if no scheduled special music), communion, closing hymn, and postlude.  During church
service, additional musical accompaniment may be requested (altar calls, times of prayer, etc.) by the
Pastor/staff.

Accompanists may be asked to accompany special music participants, (this is voluntary on your part).
See Special Music Ministry process for details

If you are unable to participate in the service you are scheduled, you must contact the music director
and pastor, and find a substitute accompanist a minimum of one hour prior to the beginning of the
service, so there is coverage for the service.  Repeated inability/rescheduling of accompanist schedule
will be addressed in individual situations and may result in removal from the accompanist schedule.

Arrive at PPMCC 20 minutes prior to start of service
