Join us for our Messy Church event on Friday Oct. 18 from 4:30 - 6:30 pm at PPMCC. The theme for October is "Do. Love. Walk."

Micah was a prophet in the 700s BCE. He was a small-town kid, it seems, who moved with his family to the big city of Jerusalem when his village was destroyed by the Assyrians. Instead of finding a safe haven in the city, Micah saw all kinds of corruption and injustice. Wealthy landowners were taking advantage of small farms to gain more land and money. Women and children were being evicted from their homes. The court system was infested with bribery and injustice.

Micah 6:6-8 is part of a larger conversation where God expresses frustration and disappointment in how people have turned from God's ways. "What have I done to burden you?" God asks. The people respond, "What else do you want from us?" pointing to all the sacrifices they willingly offer. But God doesn't want empty sacrifices! Instead, God wants us to live God's way. And what's that way? Micah 6:8 gives us a direction, a guide for how God wants us to live: Do justice. Love kindness. Walk humbly with God.
